SACRAMENTS AT TRINITY REFORMED UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
BAPTISM
Through baptism by water and the Holy Spirit, persons are joined in faith with Jesus and become a member of the universal family of the Christian faith. The UCC does not see baptism as a means of salvation but as a welcoming to the Body of Christ and the beginning of a life as a Christian. The UCC recognizes baptism from any Christian denomination or faith group as valid and to the Church universal.
One parent needs to be a member of Trinity UCC in order for a child or infant to be baptized. Adults who wish to be baptized, and who have not been previously baptized, will celebrate this sacrament before they may join the church. Baptisms from other Christian denominations are recognized and respected by the United Church of Christ. Re-baptism is not a requirement for membership. Baptism is always celebrated during a regular Sunday worship service.
HOLY COMMUNION
The breaking of bread and the sharing of the cup are done in remembrance of Christ. At Trinity Reformed UCC, all persons are invited to come to the Lords table, including children. We believe the table is not ours, nor is it the table of the UCC it is Christs table, and no one will be turned away.
This sacrament is celebrated usually on the first Sunday of each month and on other special occasions in the church such as Easter, Christmas Eve and other holy days.
